“I so enjoyed The Deceiver! I had to sneak little pieces of it until I could sit down and have it all to myself. The main character Melanie was so real and I just love her. The author pulled me along in what she was feeling and doing, drawing me into the book and its story. It’s a must read for those who love supernatural thrillers! I need the next book!”
“The Deceiver literally had me hanging on to each descriptive word fully able to imagine things as they are happening and transfixing me into the Imaginative adventure. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book! A relatable book of struggle that pulls at your heart strings and a journey that leaves me craving more.”
“I absolutely loved this book. Read it in 4 days. Just could not put it down. Instead of enjoying the sights of fort brag and the camp ground, i was in a chair reading this book the whole time. Each page draws you in completely. kept telling myself “ok, just one more chapter, and then i will… (insert verb)” LOL but i literally couldn’t put it down. I just had to see what happened next. Bravo to R.J. Machado De Quevedo.”
“I’m not one for fiction with religious overtones, so for me to keep reading this story and have it get four stars says something about R. J. Machado De Quevedo’s ability to spin a yarn. From page one where our heroine wakes up halfway round the world in an alley she has never seen before, to the mysterious antique shop where she finds her destiny in a book unlike any other, the story keeps pulling you in. I was at a pretty good party when I got my copy and ended up sneaking into a corner just so I could keep reading to find out what happened next. Excitement, action, mystery, a monumental battle between good and evil…what more could you ask for? Excellent debut!”
“For me, R.J.’s debut title, The Deceiver, was an emotional battle of epic proportions. On one page I was mystified and intrigued as I traveled alongside Melanie through a colorful realm where angels and demons make themselves known. Reading on I found tears of rage and helplessness forming in my eyes as young Melanie’s past, present and, seemingly, her future collide, bringing to light the pains and horrors she faces each day. By the last chapter my jaw was hanging wide open, and as I read the final page I found myself aching to get my hands on the second book. This is an emotionally taxing read with mature themes and graphic elements so I caution parents in presenting this book to anyone under the age of 13 or 14.”
"I wanted to take the time and write this note of gratitude and thanks, I feel it is important to acknowledge someone who has made such an enormous impact on my faith and soul during this time of Thanksgiving. Thank you for finding the strength through the lord to write your books. For sharing so much truth it reaches deep down to the depth of ones soul and forces it to see itself in its very own mirror, at least it did for me. I am only on the first book and it has been a very good tool, mirror, to reflect upon myself. Mainly, with the main character Melanie I relate so very deeply. To me, that is the most beautiful part of how you write, reaching your reader on such a deep level it forces one to reflect on themselves, and to me that is the truest sign of a great writer, a great scribe. You are a wonder and a scribe of gods glory and I just wanted to express my gratitude for putting your words out into the universe so that someone like me could find strength in gods love once again, more of a renewal of strength and faith in the glory of gods grace.
Thank you a million times over and again. To loosely quote Michael Dorris,
“a book, if it arrives at the right moment, in the proper season, will change the course of all that follows.”
I pray for so many other readers’ to find in your work what I have had that a chance to find, a calling to renew ones own faith and love in our Lord Ol’ Mighty. Thank you for being an outlet for God’s love to shine through unto others. I am excited to read the rest of the series and look forward to continue watching the main Character Melanie grow."
“Words can’t do this book justice, just read it! It’s a great book there is no doubt about that. The story line and individual perspectives from each character is amazing. Good luck putting the books down. I kept sneaking in time to read it at work. Haha! Shh. Definitely shows the talent of the author and what R.J. Is capable of. CANNOT wait for the next books!”
“Great storyline and I didn’t want to put it down. The lusty scrumptious guy from Book One comes in again and the plot thickens all around. Just when you think you got the plot figured out, De Quevedo spins you in a different unexpected direction, giving a glimpse into the supernatural realm and the dark past of some of the characters and what is behind them. Needless to say, I’m reading it a few times in waiting for Book Three of this series after the ending left me on a precipices edge.”
“OMG Ending! Awesome! I need Book Three!!! Great storyline and I didn’t want to put it down.
“Being an avid reader of all things paranormal this book had me hooked!! I am RJ’s biggest fan and this book is the 2nd book in this series (book one The Deceiver was also AMAZING) & basically it has all the parts to keep your attention and action flowing throughout the book. Mystery, excitement, otherworldly, and adventure. There is a distinct good vs evil and you won’t be disappointed. I am not one to usually leave comments, but RJ’s books are so incredible that I just had to leave my two cents. Pick one up today and you won’t be disappointed. I am anxiously awaiting the 3rd book!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!”
“Another brilliant book from R.J. Machado De Quevedo (Broken Seed). What can i say….I’m hooked. the ending of book one “The Deceiver” left readers hungry for more. leaving us with questions like “but, what happened with (insert character’s name)?” and “oh my gosh, i hope that sleezeball never gets out of prison.” In this book, the main character, Melanie Bishop, seems to become stronger as a person, and a little more comfortable in her own skin. There’s quite a few jaw droppers along the way. (OMG pg 88) These books will make quite an Oscar winning movie. did i mention…i read this one in a day? Haha. true story. got it on a Wednesday night, it was finished by Thursday night.”
“I met you at a woman’s event in Los Angeles. I am an avid reader and saw your books. I bought both on a whim because I had never read anything of yours. I admit when I started to read the Deceiver, I was taken aback a little, even though you told me they had to do with angels and demons. I didn’t realize you were writing as a Christian and I was afraid that you were going to “start preaching” in your book. I have been pleasantly surprised that you didn’t, yet your faith comes out strongly and I love it!! This is the first book I’ve ever read like this. I just have one question; where have you been all my life?? I am reading “Broken Seed’ and I don’t want to put it down. Please say there is another one coming. When will that be and will there be more? Are they to be a trilogy or more? I hope you make it a 1000 books long! I can’t tell you how glad I am that I met you there. I was there with my daughter-in-law and I know you don’t remember me, but I don’t think I will forget you! Thank you for your books and I can’t tell you how much I am enjoying your books. I hope you will choose to answer this. Have a good day and God bless!!”
“Love the series. Sanctuary of Fire really brings out how the characters are connected. I love how strong Melanie is. I finished this book in less than a day. I can’t wait for the next book.”
“I admit it took a little bit to get into the book as most new series do, but keep reading because you won’t be disappointed. The detail put into the book a great and as you get into the 2nd book Broken Seed and the 3rd Sanctuary of Fire you see how all the characters are connected. I can’t wait to find out what happens next.”
“There’s a lot here! I read it too fast – couldn’t put it down. I’m going to have to read it again! Now!”
“I am enjoying my reading. Yes it makes you pause and think especially when you are drawn into the history. I can see things come to life in my mind as I read. I definitely recommend any body to read it.”
“The supernatural pulled me in. Pretty darned interesting and fun reading — and I write sci-fi so I want action and the unusual to get a break from all the norm out there. She put a huge amount of thought into the novel and I’d give this a big thumbs up.”
“This anticipated 3rd book in the deceiver saga starts out with the main character’s bff and roommate, Elizabeth and her co-worker, Bradly. First off, i would like to say…the covers of these books (as well as the story itself) keep getting better and better. I recommend everyone take the time to (after buying it of course) really look at the cover and the details on this cover. Hard to believe this is R.J Machado De Quevedo’s 3rd book…ever. She writes like someone that has been doing it for many years. Of course, as with the first 2 books…this one is a page turner. I’ve learned that the “just one more chapter, then i will…” doesn’t work! Haha. Whenever I’m reading these books, i try to multitask. Example: Reading while making dinner. Normally, when reading books…i take my time. But with the deceiver saga, even though i tell myself to slow down and pace myself…i just can’t put them down. This is one reader that can’t wait to read book 4. (I’d put in the title, but not sure if it’s the official one yet.)”
"Love this series!
Cant wait for the next book in this series!"
"A must read!
A truly unique thriller that kept me guessing and turning pages in anticipation! This series brings both inspiration and trepidation on what unfolds."
